Philips articulates a clear aspiration to be a leading private sector player in the Sustainable Development Goals and sees its role as being focussed on the three SDGs on which it perceives it can have the most impact – namely goals 3, 7 and 12. For each of these three SDGs, Philips identifies some of the key challenges that society needs to tackle, and then outlines how  the company’s strategy contributes to finding solutions and scaling up action, including through partnerships.

This case study represents a strong example of a company cutting through complexity and prioritizing the SDGs which it believes it can do most to help realise. In the case of Philips this is also then complemented by a clear and compelling communication piece, demonstrating how its core strategy is well-positioned to make a meaningful contribution.
