Tata Group recognizes that the SDGs have become a blueprint to help achieve corporate sustainability. In their report “The Tata Group and the SDGs”, the company has documented how the activities of Tata group companies contribute to the realization of the SDGs. Against the backdrop that better information leads to better decision, the company measures, values and discloses its societal impacts and environmental externalities. They describe the SDGs as unique framework to re-examine business risks and to build resilience into their operations and communities.
Not all 17 SDGs and 169 targets are equally relevant to every business. Tata recommends to prioritize to ensure a meaningful contribution and to integrate the SDGs into a company’s materiality process. This allows for better determination and prioritization which SDGs are most relevant and where core business areas can make the most significant contribution.
