2016 Mobile Industry Impact Report: Sustainable Development Goals

Who’s behind it? – GSMA, Deloitte

How can it help? –  The GSMA represents the interests of mobile operators worldwide, uniting nearly 800 operators with almost 300 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem. In this report published in September 2016, it links the mobile industry’s activities to the SDGs and their targets, and assesses the impact of these activities on the SDGs. This body of evidence is then used to reflect on the implications of current trends and what the industry can do to enhance impact. The report represents one of the first first major efforts to establish an industry-wide benchmark to assess a particular sector’s contribution to the Global Goals. The framework adopted by this report could serve as a useful blueprint for other industries as they look to undertake similar mapping.
